2008 Bearskin Meadow Camp

What an amazing place Bearskin is. We all were able to go this year and we had a GREAT time. It's quite a drive to get there, especially with 3 kids, but so worth the drive. We all bring home a little something different from it, but being with other families & kids that are affected by diabetes is well... I don't know how to describe it. Tyler just beams when he's there. He's not different. The counselors there are wonderful people. All the kids were put in different groups so they got some alone time from one another. They got to go swimming, do some archery, went for a nature hike and caught some bugs, play sports & get messy in the arts/craft room. At night we enjoyed a variety show one night, which is just hilarious, a couple of the nights we had a campfire, and a couple of the other nights the counselors sat on deck with the kids so all the adults could chat and enjoy some coffee or hot cocoa. Each night we slept on an open deck cabin with 3-4 other families looking at the stars in our cots. It's an amazing place and we can't wait for next summer.

Looks like you had a great time! I'm glad that you all were able to go and enjoy yourselves. Sleeping under the stars would be awesome and a little nerve wracking at the same time!
