She is new and it is noticeable but every week she gave it all she had and never gave up. One of her favorite positions is keeper and yesterday she brought happy tears to my eyes.
So the girls played all season with only 1 loss. Yesterday began the championship weekend and it was beautiful. They had all 8 players and played 3 games, winning all of them. I didn't have my camera ready but this one play was AMAZING. Ball right at goal box, Emily blocked first kick not far from goal got up and slid into the ball again to block yet another attempt for a score. Oye my heart was pounding as they were only ahead by one. PTL they won and moved onto today's games. Emily at the end of the day said it was because it was Great Papa's bday that they won :)
Today unlike yesterday was complete downpour of rain ALL day long. The girls only had 6 of their players show up, which means they had to play all day with no subs. The first game was against one of our family's bestest friends. It was neat because both Emily & Jules were first Captains, then they both played keeper at the same time and finally played head to head at one point in the game. Both were smiling ear to ear. Only distraction of the game was a few easy ups that wanted to fly away in the 30mph wind. One did which thankfully did not hit anyone. Anywho back to the game...our team won and moved onto the 1st/2nd place game.
Still raining at 1 o'clock still only 6 players. It was cold and the girls were tired. The other team scored 2 shots the first half of the game. Second half of the game the girls pulled it off they tied! This made the game go into a 10 min overtime, whoever scored first won the game. Only 2 minutes left on the clock we had a corner kick, the other team had 3rd handball that blocked the winning score called and player was red carded. Just a couple feet away from goal the winning shot was made...oye my heart was really beating this game! The Redvines have now earned to play in the regionals in 2 weeks and they are all so excited. This Momma is one proud soccer Mom :)
GREAT JOB REDVINES!!!
